Position Purpose:
This position supports the development of new Hendrickson suspension components while maintaining that Hendrickson is a profitable company. We will do this by simultaneously developing the manufacturing processes and tools alongside product development. We will focus on creating processes that are capable, sustainable, and within takt time. These processes must support the capacity needed by the customer within reasonable financial payback to our company.
Responsible for the assembly, rebuild, and debugging of tooling and related components including fixtures, dies and associated hardware. Basic robotic and plc programming skills are required.
Essential Functions:
1. Assemble and debug automatic and manually operated welding fixtures and tooling.
2. Organize, purchase and help maintain supplies required for fabricating, machining, assembly of tooling fixtures.
3. Build components from hand sketches, prints or verbal instructions utilizing machines such as lathes, milling machines, drill press, saws or surface grinder.
4. Organize and maintain work environment to facilitate assembly, debugging, and reworking of weld fixtures.
5. Facilitate the shipping of fixtures and equipment to off-site locations. This may include designing and building custom shipping configurations, loading / unloading trucks, etc.
6. Assist production in the repair or maintenance of existing equipment.
Education and Training
Minimum Qualifications
· Experience of 3+ years as tooling assembler or equivalent
· Basic robotic, PLC programming, or special technical skills required
· Moderate mechanical aptitude required
· Ability to read blueprints
· Ability to work with minimum supervision
Physical Demands
· Frequent sitting, work at a computer for extended periods of time
· Must be able to lift, carry, and manipulate mechanical tools and machines within ergonomic reason
· Must be willing to travel to Hendrickson manufacturing facilities on an as-needed basis in order to install mechanical machine designs
Environmental Conditions
· Office setting & Shop floor setting
· Candidate will be working in and around industrial machinery. May be exposed to the following processes and the environmental conditions inherent with each: welding, machining, forming, metal surface treatment, laser cutting, plasma cutting, and other metal working and assembly processes.
· All necessary PPE (as defined by OSHA) and training associated with such will be provided.
