Position/Title: Production Planner

Grade: 70

Status: Full-Time

Hourly/Salaried: Salaried

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Position Purpose:

Assist production planner in managing production schedules for the facility to achieve internal and external customer requirements.  Participate in continuous improvement activities within a team environment.  Support the development and implementation of production and supply chain programs. 

Essential Functions:

·       Supports production scheduler in creating work schedules for various processes to achieve and maintain customer service objectives and on time delivery.

·       Reviews MRP daily and adjusts schedules as needed to support production requirements in key areas.

·       Assists in monitoring and managing inventory levels of WIP components to achieve plant goals.

·       Monitors production of parts to ensure adherence to schedules.

·       Performs cycle counts to validate accuracy of production reporting.

·       Communicates effectively with Customer Service, Marketing, Materials, and Manufacturing personnel.

·       Works with production personnel to implement, maintain, or improve kanban and other scheduling systems.

·       All other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Training

Associate's degree in business or related field highly preferred.
Knowledge of MRP and MRPII required.

Manufacturing production scheduling experience required.

Minimum Qualifications

·       2-5 years of experience in production scheduling within a manufacturing environment preferred.

·       Basic understanding of ERP Software

·       Experience in the use of capacity planning systems in a manufacturing environment.

·       Ability to adapt to continuous improvement and changing environments.

·       Knowledge of KANBAN, ISO/TS/IATF 16949 and JIT concepts and techniques preferred.

·       Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Particularly Excel)

·       APICS Certification preferred (CPIM, CPM or CIRM)

·       Understanding lean manufacturing principles and KANBAN, KAIZEN techniques

·       Knowledge of cycle counting and good manufacturing practices

·       Works well under pressure

·       Organized with strong follow-up skills

·       Hands-on, systematic individual with strong analytical skills

·       Professionalism and integrity to communicate and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization

·       Results oriented with a keen sense of personal responsibility
