Position Purpose:
Oversee plant operations including production, engineering, manufacturing and distribution. Identifies problems and develops plans to improve uses of materials, machines, employees, including scheduling and supervision.
Essential Functions:
· Utilize a data-driven to lead manufacturing operation in continuous improvement efforts measured by on-time delivery, past due orders, productivity, safety, quality, scrap, rework and housekeeping, cost containment through the implementation of the Management Operating System (MOS); CI efforts to improve production methods using lean manufacturing models and JIT concepts.
· Provides leadership to Manufacturing Engineering which identifies and implements cost and throughput improvements to processes, ensures that equipment and processes provide operator safety; provides effective preventative maintenance to building equipment and tooling.
· Supports the implementation of new products into production. Researches, develops and implements major capital and expense projects. 8. Supervise manufacturing on new product programs utilizing the Product Planning and Development Procedure.
· Manage scheduling processes including master scheduling, detail build scheduling, work order releases, material receipt and customer delivery commitment. Provide capacity planning and recommend adjustments. Direct warehouse receiving activities.
· Employee Relations/Development: Maintain a sustainable organization that encourages teamwork, open communication, safety-first attitude and quality system compliance. Identify areas of employee development and provide training. Ensure consistence practice and administration of policies, work rules, and established procedures.
· Reviews production and operating reports to resolve operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Identifies potential problems and takes corrective action; Reviews day-to-day departmental operations to insure compliance with goals, authorizes overtime. Reviews proposed changes to work methods.
· Assist the design, procure & validate new equipment and processes for new product programs to enhance reliability and flexibility while promoting lean manufacturing with a flexible, synchronized flow.
Education and Training
Preferred: Academic: BA/BS Degree Major: Business Management
Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Preferred
Minimum Qualifications
Industry Experience: Manufacturing, Automotive or Steel
Previous job experience required: Manufacturing and Supervisory, Project
Management, Lean Manufacturing, Kanban, MRPII, 5S, 6S, Constraint management and Total Predictive Maintenance, Knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations
Number of years required: 5 or more years
Preferred Experience: 8-10 years
Equipment: Computer, Microsoft applications
