Department Mission Statement:

To support the development of new Hendrickson suspension components while maintaining that Hendrickson is a profitable company. We will do this by simultaneously developing the manufacturing processes and tools alongside product development. We will focus on creating processes that are capable, sustainable, and within takt time. These processes must support the capacity needed by the customer within reasonable financial payback to our company.

Position Purpose:

The Weld Technician will be responsible for the programming, building and installation of robotic welding systems as well as assist in the development and maintenance of welding related processes, procedures, specifications and applications for new and existing products throughout the Hendrickson Trailer Division.

Essential Functions:

  1. Manual and robotic welding development
  2. Robotic programming
  3. Troubleshooting robotic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  4. Assemble automatic and manually operated fixtures and tooling
  5. Organize, purchase and help maintain supplies required for fabricating, machining, and assembly of tooling fixtures
  6. Build components from hand sketches, prints, or verbal instructions
  7. Develop knowledge of fabricating and welding systems and processes, then, transfer that knowledge to the production personnel
  8. Oversee tooling and suggest and implement modification to improve system productivity
  9. Assist in the development of quality systems for new products and processes
  10. Assist in the daily troubleshooting of robotic or tooling problems
  11. Increasing throughput while improving quality
  12. Develop and maintain spare parts inventory for long lead items needed to support the plant


Education and Training

  • High School Diploma or GED required


Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with industrial welding or formal welding education required
  • Demonstrated ability to pass the Hendrickson weld certification test
  • Basic Mechanical aptitude required
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand weld symbology
  • Basic robotic programming/operation desired (Fanuc is a strong plus)
  • Understanding of Microsoft office packages
