The Materials Control Supervisor, reporting directly to the Materials Manager, will be responsible for supervising the plant's Materials Department, including Material Coordinators across all shifts. In addition, this role will be accountable for effectively creating production schedules per customer requirements within manufacturing capabilities. Responsibilities include identifying and reporting plant demand capacity limits in accordance with customer requirements, supervising shipping associates, and effectively scheduling customer orders within manufacturing capabilities to support business objectives. Maintaining positive relationships with Customer Service, Marketing, Materials, and Manufacturing personnel is also integral to this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Developing a daily production schedule and coordinating the availability of materials for the production process.
  • Manage plant shipping, receiving, inventory control, material flow and freight traffic.
  • Coordinate material team efforts to meet customer, plant and company requirements.
  • Conduct meetings with associates as needed for coaching, counseling, or addressing issues.
  • Provide logistical support to plant manufacturing, emphasizing uninterrupted material availability.
  • Manage forecast data to maintain effective planning levels supporting Marketing forecasts and sales plans.
  • Maintain planning bills and CA-KBM item master records to ensure efficient planning of component-level parts.
  • Communicate with sales personnel on issues related to meeting customer requirements.
  • Achieve and maintain on-time shipping performance aligned with plant goals.
  • Respond to drop-in management requests from Division CSR to improve order dates or add to orders, coordinating with appropriate plant personnel.
  • Directly notify selected customers of delays and provide Sales Order status, serving as liaison for production rescheduling.
  • Manage plant capacity and corresponding reporting.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate requirements to maintain optimal inventory levels and efficiency.
  • Provide input data for forecast analysis and support plant management strategically.
  • Utilize RCCP to analyze and manage demand versus capacity, maximizing productivity and supporting DRI goals.
  • Proactively manage demand versus capacity by analyzing request versus promise dates and reallocating orders between plants when feasible.
  • Support escalation policy for senior management as necessary.
  • Establish and communicate plant lead times for various product lines.
  • Establish and monitor customer priorities in daily production meetings.
  • Develop and execute Plant Customer Delivery Reliability procedures.
  • Manage plant relationships with selected customers and oversee all customer-related functions.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to production control, materials flow, shipping, and receiving teams.

Education and Training:

  • BS Degree in Business or related degree area preferred.
  • Knowledge of MRPII required.
  • Knowledge of KanBan, ISO 9000 and JIT concepts and techniques.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience overseeing a team of employees.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in Production and Inventory Control functions (e.g., Master Scheduling, Material Planning, Production Scheduling, Inventory Management).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient typing and computer skills.
