POSITION / TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer
REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Position Purpose:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for overseeing all the technical aspects of the axle department, including equipment, tooling, machinery and process flow. The Manufacturing Engineer is also required to supervise and develop one or more Manufacturing Engineering technicians. The technical aspects will include but are not limited to:
· Induction Heat Treating Equipment
· Friction Welding Equipment
· Automation and Fanuc robot material handling systems
· CNC Turning equipment
· Plant layouts / process & workflow optimization
· Traceability & Error proofing methods and software (NGTT & barcode equipment)
Essential Functions:
· Project management including new equipment, new processes, process changes, and equipment replacement. This will include meeting quality, capability, cost and time targets. (This individual must be able to develop and implement capital or expense projects.)
· Continual improvement of process and product quality. Improve methods and reduce costs. (PCR process)
· Assist maintenance with high level technical issues and help develop detailed equipment PM’s.
· Develop and implement processes to support new products.
· Collaborate with Division Manufacturing Engineering Group on process changes, new equipment, new processes, process changes, and equipment replacements.
Education and Training
· 4-Year Bachelor of Science Degree in a related Engineering technical field is required (ME or IE preferred).
Minimum Qualifications:
· Allen Bradley PLC troubleshooting experience is required
· Fanuc Robot programming and troubleshooting experience is required
· CNC turning equipment experience preferred
· Project management experience required.
· Supervisory experience required. (Management of Engineering technician(s))
· A general understanding of key manufacturing principles preferred (process capability, demand flow technology, Kanban, value stream mapping, etc.)
· Candidate must demonstrate an ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and GD&T.
· Plant layout and equipment layout experience required. AutoCad experience preferred.
· 3D modeling experience is required. PTC Creo preferred.
· Hands-on experience in tooling & fixturing methods is preferred.
· Experience in procurement of manufacturing systems and equipment is preferred.
· Production experience is preferred.
