IT System Administrator
Position Purpose:
Under the direct supervision of Division I.T., monitor and support company computer resources and phone systems. Analyze and resolve end-user hardware, software and process-related problems including support of Division I.T. developed applications. Provide end-user training where required. Perform low-level tasks such as installing new computers and other duties and projects assigned by supervisor.
Essential Functions:
· Install and maintain computers, laptops, and network-related equipment including but not limited to network switches, Access Points, Bar-code and process-related equipment as the latter pertains to Production Management and error-proofing and traceability. Working with Ethernet networks, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures all peripheral devices, printers, copiers and related equipment, bar code guns, etc.
· Primary designated support for I.T. provided systems to include, but not limited to email, application and system monitoring, middleware (QAD), printing, etc.
· Provide primary phone support for both analog and VOIP systems.
· Coordinate vendor services for warranty repair with PC hardware, printers, etc.
· Under the direct supervision of Division I.T., contracting local resources for infrastructure wiring requirements.
· Investigate and troubleshoot systems and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational and process-related difficulties.
· Conduct various training and instruction for system users on operating systems, databases and other applications.
· Recommend and implement enhancements and operating procedures that optimize use of computing systems.
· Maintain confidentiality in regard to information being processed, stored or accessed.
· Document network and process problems and resolutions for future reference.
· Support software programming enhancements as it pertains to Production Management under the direct supervision of Division I.T.
· Provide assistance to equipment vendors to ensure the proper integration of 3rd party hardware.
· Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
· Maintain local database containing hardware and software inventory information.
· On-site imaging for deployment of both repaired and new systems.
· Provide on-the-job training and orientation to new department members.
· Responsibilities may require evening and weekend support in response to plant needs.
Education & Training:
· Associate degree in business or computer–related field required.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Minimum of three years’ experience with desktop support or similar experience.
· Experience with PBX and VOIP phone system support.
· Ability to interface with customers and provide group and/or one-on-one support and training
· Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
· Must exhibit the highest professionalism, self-initiative, enthusiasm, and work ethic.
· Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported.
