The HR Generalist is responsible for administering the hourly payroll and time and attendance system on a weekly basis and updating and posting the hourly overtime assignments on a weekly basis.  This position will administer and enforcie departmental policies and processes and work with Stratford management to implement effective communication processes, ensuring employees are adequately appraised of all key events and assist in creating a positive working environment throughout the facility.

·         Inputs, reviews and monitors the hourly payroll through ADP – verifies that correct deductions and benefit remittances are made.  Prepares Annual T4 Summaries.

·         Monitors employee punches and job allocation through the Time & Attendance system.

·         Administers the plant employee overtime equalization program.

·         Administers the employee benefits program by ensuring employees are enrolled, and all changes in employee status are kept current. Assist with submitting claims for short term disability

·         Assists in investigating and recommending possible solutions to employee complaints in such areas as employee work absenteeism, overtime equalization and other areas as appropriate.

·         Ensure proper new employee orientation is completed; including Health and Safety, HR, Quality, Spring 101 and plant tour sign off.

·         Ensure training is completed as designated on the training plan.

·         Ensure departmental requirements of the Quality system are met.

·         Maintains hourly employee files and database.

·         Participate in health & safety committee meetings and assist with submitting documentation for WSIB and other health and safety inititatives

·         Issue discipline per the Company Attendance Policy.

·         May issue discipline per the Company Work Rules Policy

·         Assists the Human Resources Manager to complete additional duties on an as required basis.

 

 Qualifications

  •                      Post Secondary Education degree in Human Resources/Business Administration
  •                      3 to 5 years experience in a comparable Human Resources position within a unionized manufacturing environment
  •                      Strong computer skills MS office
  •                      Experience with Payroll system administration (ADP) and Time & Attendance system       
  •                      Professional Human Resources Certification (CHRP or CHRL) or working towards the designation is desired
  •                      Enhanced knowledge of Canadian employment laws
  •                      Ability to communicate in both group and one on one settings
  •                      Excellent organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills
